Delete your account
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. It erases the account and everything attached to it: progress, cards, review history, placement result, tutor conversations, and any current subscription.
From the app
Open My account, then “Delete my account”. The confirmation asks you to type a word, so that an irreversible action is never a single tap. This is the most direct path, and it works on the web as well as on a phone.
Without the app
If you no longer have access to your account, or you have uninstalled the app, write to [email protected] from the email address of the account. Requests are handled within thirty days.
What is kept, and why
Two things outlive deletion, and neither identifies you.
- Learning content. The sentences, words and audio files of the corpus belong to the service and are shared by every learner. They carry no information about you.
- Accounting records. Invoices and payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires, at our payment provider. We cannot erase them before that term, and neither can anyone else.
Before you go
A subscription bought on the App Store or Google Play does not stop when the account is deleted: it is cancelled in the store’s subscription settings, on your phone. Otherwise it would keep charging for an account that no longer exists.
“My account” also lets you export your data before erasing it: a file containing everything the service knows about you.
