Terms of Use
Last updated: 6 August 2026
1. Purpose
These terms govern your use of Ether Echo, a service operated by Infinite Ether Interactive Inc., a company established in Quebec, Canada. By creating an account, you accept them.
2. The service
Ether Echo helps you understand and speak a language, through listening and spaced repetition. It includes review sessions and a voice tutor that talks with you.
It is a learning tool. It does not replace a teacher, guarantees no result, and prepares you for no official certification.
3. Your account
You must be 14 or older to create an account yourself. Below that age, a parent or guardian must authorise it.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us and for keeping your access confidential. An account is personal: it is not shared.
4. Subscription
Listening and reviews cost nothing. The voice tutor does cost us money by the minute: it comes with a trial, then with a subscription.
The trial
Your account receives 30 tutor minutes, once. They do not recharge.
The plans
Three tiers, differing in how many tutor minutes they grant each month. Current prices are shown on the Subscription page. That is the only up-to-date source, and the amount shown to you at checkout is the one that governs. Amounts are in Canadian dollars. Applicable taxes are added at checkout.
Minutes are granted for the current billing period and do not carry over from one period to the next.
Who charges you
Payment and billing are handled by Link (Stripe), acting as the merchant for this sale. Link is therefore what appears on your bank statement, Link issues your invoice, and Link is where you manage your subscription: at link.com, using the email address you paid with. We never see your card number.
Renewal and cancellation
The subscription is monthly and renews automatically until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time at link.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: you keep access until then, and nothing is charged afterwards. We do not refund a started period pro rata.
Refunds
If you change your mind within 14 days of a first payment and have used no tutor minutes in that period, write to us: we refund. After that, or if minutes have been used, we consider each request in good faith.
The rights the law gives you where you live, including any right of withdrawal, apply in addition to the above. Nothing here sets them aside.
If a payment fails
A card can expire. While the payment is being retried, you keep whatever remains of the minutes from the period you already paid for; no new allowance opens until the payment succeeds. If the subscription ends up cancelled, tutor access stops. Your progress stays intact.
Price changes
Prices may change. A change never applies to a period already paid for, and you are told before it takes effect.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- try to get around usage limits, in particular the voice tutor's, or automate your interactions with the service;
- bulk-extract the content of the service, or redistribute it as if it were yours;
- harm the operation of the service or its infrastructure, or try to reach anyone else's data;
- use the voice tutor to produce unlawful or hateful content, or content meant to harass someone.
The voice tutor runs on a language model. It can be wrong. Do not take its answers for professional advice, in any field.
6. Content and licences
Part of the service's learning content comes from open sources, under licences that require attribution. They are listed on the Sources and licences page.
The rest, meaning the software, the interface and the Ether Echo name, belongs to Infinite Ether Interactive Inc.
Your progress belongs to you. You can ask for a copy of it at any time.
7. Availability
The service is provided « as is ». We do our best to keep it available, but we do not guarantee continuous availability, the absence of errors, or that your data will be kept forever. Interruptions may happen for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
We recommend you do not treat the service as the only record of your learning.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Infinite Ether Interactive Inc.'s liability to you cannot exceed the amounts you have paid us over the past twelve months. Nothing in these terms sets aside rights the law gives you and that cannot be waived, in particular consumer protection rights.
9. Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time. If a subscription is active, we cancel it before erasing your data. There is nothing else for you to do, and the charges stop.
You may also cancel it yourself at link.com before deleting your account; the result is the same. And if a charge surprises you anyway, write to us: we will sort it out.
We may suspend or close an account for a serious breach of the rules in section 5, after telling you where that is possible.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the province of Quebec, Canada.
11. Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top of the page marks the latest version, and any significant change will be flagged inside the service.
